Proud, Prepared, Professional
In addition to responding to emergency calls Milliken Fire Protection District is very involved in department training. Department training for the year included, Firefighter I and II Academy's, Hazardous Materials Operations, Ice rescue technician, and Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator and much more. In addition Milliken Fire Protection District holds monthly in house fire training, as well as monthly Emergency Medical Service training with Weld County Paramedic Services.
The Milliken & Johnstown Fire Protection District's utilize the Two Rivers Training Facility located on the corner of Irene Avenue and Elm Street in Milliken for training exercises. This two story training facility is a great benefit for our departments as we can simulate actual emergency scenarios, including search & rescue, structure fires, ventilation, ladders, firefighter survival, and much more. The building features movable walls allowing firefighters to change the physical layout of the structure to avoid complacency. The building also features a piped smoke system that can pump theatrical smoke to anywhere inside the structure. There are also multiple training props and features incorporated into the structure that aid firefighters with realistic training and education. This building is made entirely possible through the cooperation from the Weld County RE-5J School District.
Photos of the Two Rivers Training Facility can be seen above in the slide-show, or just give us a call to schedule a tour!
